Lee has been looking at taking the plunge with a dictation application for a while now. However, with an above average typing speed, coupled with a distrust in the quality of the dictation apps available, he's never pulled the trigger. That is, until now.
While trying to find efficiencies in his workflows and make more time available during the day, he gave Superwhisper a try and the results are quite something. At its core, it can transcribe dictated text with unnerving accuracy due the available models. And when combined with AI processing, all of a sudden you're able to work a lot smarter, with Superwhisper doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
In this first of a two-part series, Lee looks into the origins of dictation and how it can help us, as well as getting started with the core functionality of Superwhisper. He closes off Part 1 by looking at some of the built-in modes you can enable, allowing you to dictate text knowing it will be transcribed in a format suitable for email, notes, messaging, and more.

Stay away from this product. I spent $250 on a "lifetime license" and it hasn't worked at all on my Mac since I installed MacOS 26 last August. I have written to the support team numerous times sent them many files screenshot and recordings and to date ZERO response other than we are working on it. I have asked that it be escalated to Neil who it seems is also too important to make sure the extremely poor software he ships works. Worst purchase decision ever. I'm now trying to get a refund.
Wow Tim, that's not a good experience at all. Sorry to hear you've had such issues - when I've contacted their support, they've been quick to respond when I've asked about features etc. I'll email you separately as I want to see the issues you have been having.
Thanks Lee it has been super frustrating I have reached out on discord and email I have exchanged email with Tom, Fin and Axel all with no success. Apparently my issue has to go to engineering and they simply don't care about a single user.
OK buddy I've emailed you separately - if you let me know what's been occurring, I'm happy to reach out to them as well to try and help. I've dealt with Tom and Axel pretty swiftly in the past - never longer than 24 hours for a response, so hopefully this is an anomaly that can be sorted.

To update that after my earlier comments, Lee reached out to me and offered a couple of suggestions, one of which was deleting the app with CleanMyMac and reinstalling from scratch. After watching the first episode of his Super Whisper video, I decided to do just that, and lo and behold, it began working. Previously, on the advice of the Super Whisper support team, I had simply moved the application to trash and reinstalled it. But using CleanMyMac to delete it did the trick. I'm truly grateful to Lee for his assistance and this reinforces the decision that I made in 2012 to subscribe to ScreenCastsONLINE. It's great value.
