Apple's decision to completely rewrite its iWork suite of apps way back in 2013 brought with it numerous changes to the overall feature set of those programs. Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are still being updated frequently, bringing back features that had been removed, and introducing some new functionality.

In this tip video, Don looks at the new ability to add Table of Contents to Pages for Mac and iOS. The Table of Contents can be used to navigate your Pages documents as well as exported PDF and ePUB documents.

You also learn about the creation and syncing of custom shapes across all your iCloud devices.

Following on from the recent update shows, a final quick update on Pages, Number and Keynote.

In this tip video, Don takes a look at some changes to Smart Annotations and Drawing in Pages, as well as the common changes in Charting and the support for displaying LaTeX or MathML equations across all of the iWork Apps.

The iWork suite of Pages, Numbers and Keynote has been updated to allow you to record audio clips into your word processing document, spreadsheet or presentation slide, directly from your iPad or iPhone.

In this tip video, Don shows you the common method for creating and editing these clips.

In addition, he also demonstrates how these clips are presented and can be replaced or updated in the macOS versions of the apps. You can also include audio in those, but it's necessary to record your audio externally - at least for now!

Pages is a tremendous application from Apple and is included for free with all new Macs and iOS devices. We've covered Pages in depth in previous tutorials but recently Apple announced some significant new features across the iWork suite.

In this tutorial, Don takes you through the significant new features of Pages on both the Mac and iOS. We'll look at Numbers and Keynote in a future tutorial.

As 2017 comes to a close, the newest version of Pages still does not support basic mail merge.

However, all is not lost as Sal Soghoian and the macosxautomation.com website has it covered.

This episode takes a look at some of the scripts and utilities available from this tremendous resource, and demonstrates how to:

• Generate a template form letter and populate it with data from a Numbers spreadsheet using a special app.

• Use the Contacts App, Pages and Mail to generate a personalised letter to a single group within your Contacts.

Pages 2 is part of the Apple iWork 06 suite and a superb wordprocessor and page layout tool. The problem with Pages is that it's not really that intuitive to use, especially if you're used to MS Word. This screencast removes this barrier and shows you just how easy it is to get fantastic results from Pages with the minimum of effort.
