We're revisiting Alfred 3 to take a closer look at Alfred Workflows. In show 0643, we showed you how to use the basic building blocks to construct your own Alfred workflows.
In this episode, Mike Schmitz will dive deeper into some specific examples of what's possible with Alfred Workflows using several simple scripting examples.
Alfred is a really powerful application, and in this episode Mike shows you how to tie things together and solve common problems on your Mac by using specific workflows. He'll also show you some more complex examples, and point you to some great online resources if you're looking for even more workflows as inspiration.

For the Hidden Files workflow, I had to use:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -boolean true
It would not work until I added the -boolean. Now it works great.
Hi Tony, not sure what might be different with my system but I'm glad it's working for you now!
Enjoyed the tutorial, thanks. Where I am challenged is that I am not familiar with writing terminal or applescript scripts. So while I understand the process of creating the workflows, I can't fill in the scripts. :(
Is there an easy way to learn about this - or an alternative to learning about scripts altogether? Otherwise, it feels like the time it will take for me to learn to program the scripts will be more than the productivity savings offered by Alfred.
It's quite a challenge to learn scripting from scratch and can take quite a considerable amount of effort. The good news is that there are already a large number of scripts available if your search for them, and you may find scripts that already exist that work with minor tweaking.
