Tutorial Description

Launchbar has recently had a major update with the release of Launchbar V6. Primarily known as an "Application Launcher", Launchbar is actually much more complex, and much more capable than that.

This episode is not a full review of Launchbar 6, but is intended to give a flavour of some of the new features, especially for Alfred users who are intrigued as to how Launchbar now differs from Alfred.

It's not a blow by blow comparison, or a complete feature review, but should be enough to give you an idea of the core differences and decide if you want to take it out for a spin. Whether you stick with Alfred, or try the newly improved Launchbar, it's your call!

The full tutorial covers:

  • Introduction
  • LaunchBar Themes
  • Basic LaunchBar Navigation
  • LaunchBar Preferences
  • Info Browsing
  • Send To
  • LaunchBar Index
  • Instant Send
  • Calendar & Reminder Integration
  • Emoji Integration
  • Safari Integration
  • LaunchBar Index Review

Which do you like, Launchbar or Alfred?

I've currently swung back to Launchbar. But we'll see what happens when Alfred gets updated.

This comment relates to the way to enable/disable the Spotlight menu shortcut as shown about 3:09 into this video.
With Sierra, the way to disable the Spotlight menu shortcut in System Preferences has been moved from Spotlight to Keyboard > Shortcuts > Spotlight. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the heads up Justin!
