Airtable is one of the tools we use daily here at ScreenCastsOnline to assist us with our show creation and our post production workflows. It's been quite a while since we covered this indispensable service, so we decided to start from scratch.

In the first of this two-part series, Don goes over the basics of Base and Table creation, taking a look at some of the most commonly used fields. In addition, he also shows you how to link tables and configure a rollup fields. You also get familiar with the many views available in Airtable.

Thanks Don, I never understood the value of the Kanban view, until you demonstrated it — I'd seen the Airtable announcement video…
Quick Tip: Inspired by your demo, I had a play… a Base symbol defaults to its first two letters, unless you select one of the Airtable icons, so I used an an emoji as the first character, followed by a space — "???? Wine List" now I've a colourful wine glass as the Base symbol. Unfortunately my wine inventory doesn't warrant a Base : (

Hi Ferrers, Yes, the Kanban view is very useful. I'm in the same boat re the wine inventory - we constantly have a dozen bottles but all of the same wine :)
