I found that I had to disconnect from any VPN i use on both my macbook and iphone to get the iphone mirroring to connect, however if you hae VPN turned on , like i did, an error message isn't thrown, rather the mirroring app just gets hung on the 'connecting to iphone...' loading screen. Im curious to know if there is a workaround for simultaneous VPN use, if anyone has some ideas....?
Hi T R,
So - I had this too and was able to work around it but the setting was local to my VPN software. I use Express VPN, and there is a setting that is enabled by default called 'Stop all Internet Traffic if the VPN disconnects unexpectedly'. i unchecked this, and I can use iPhone Mirroring without issue. Maybe there is a similar setting on the software you use? It's not ideal I know, but a workaround nonetheless.
Thanks
Great! I also use express VPN,and no doubt i have that setting on by default, so i'll try toggling off 'stop all internet traffic on disconnect...' before i use screen mirroring it again. Thanks for the tip! ..... Its still kinda curious as to why that works... or why Apple icloud's 'private relay' being on doesn't also interfere? ... If i can get an answer to the Q from the express vpn cust service ppl, i'll be sure to repost their explaination here. (^-^)
Yep it's a shame that's what is needed to get it going but it's been fine for me, and I hope it does the job for you too. I'm curious about it too, there's stuff going on that even with my network hat on, I don't quite get. Look forward to hearing from you!
