With the introduction of iOS 11.4 & macOS 10.13.5, Apple have delivered on Messages for iCloud. No longer are messages hit and miss on your various devices, now you can store an encrypted archive in iCloud for use by all devices.
In this week's tip video, Don takes you through some of the limitations of the old Messages architecture, demonstrates switching on the new Messages in iCloud and takes a look at how it works in operation.
This tip video was recorded prior to the release of macOS 10.13.5, so to setup Messages in iCloud on your Mac, open Messages - Preferences - Accounts - Select your iCloud Account and switch on "Enable Messages in iCloud"

Ho Don,
Alas your tip about Messages and iCloud syncing does not mention that in order to turn this feature on you must be using 2FA.
I am not using 2FA at this time as I travel back and forth between the USA and Thailand, switching sim cards depending on where I am located, and I am not convinced that 2FA will work well in this situation. I could be wrong.

My mistake - I did plan to mention 2FA but must have slipped through the cracks. As far as your particular situation, 2FA is based on your Apple ID so I would imagine it will still work fine - even if swapping sims.
