Telegram is a cross-platform and secure messaging service that works with Apple devices as well as Android, Linux, and Windows. It supports end-to-end encryption with private chats and allows you to set timeouts on messages so they disappear on both ends. It's got a superb search engine, and fun features like stickers and the ability to conduct polls inside group messages.

A little-known feature of Safari on both macOS and iOS is the ability to browse in private. This allows you to keep your browsing history private as well as take advantage of some additional privacy features.

Whilst we have a fantastic messaging app with Apple Messages, it's not always easy to chat or transfer files to non-Apple devices.

Step forward WhatsApp Messenger.

This free app and service is owned by Facebook and boasts over 2 billion users worldwide. It's never been easier to share chats, photos, videos, documents even location data with individuals or even better, with groups of people. You can even video conference with multiple people from your phone without worrying what device they have. WhatsApp Messenger is available for both iOS and Android although we only cover the iOS version in this show. In addition, you can also install WhatsApp Desktop on the Mac or PC, and access all of your WhatsApp chats and media from your computer.

Modern-day photo management usually involves choosing an app and then managing all of the metadata for your photos within it. Using that metadata across applications is sometimes problematic because that information lives inside the original application and cannot always be shared easily.

HoudahGeo 6 is a program that streamlines the process of adding geocode and other metadata to your files. It can communicate with photo apps like Photos and Lightroom to make sure any changes made to your files show up inside those applications as well.

After demonstrating how to get your photos in the application, Todd Olthoff covers all of the geocoding and metadata options, how to add that data to your files, and then shows you how to send this information back to your photo library.

This week, Rosemary tells you all about Peek-a-View, an app designed to let you show your photos to others, but without the risk of them deleting or sharing your images. When combined with Guided Access mode on iOS, Peek-a-View becomes a view-only photo collection that's perfect for toddlers.

This week, Lee shows you a new application designed to keep track of the books you currently own or wish to buy in the future, and that's Book Track. Although he focuses on the iOS version, it's also available for the Mac, and your library stays in sync across your devices using iCloud.

You learn how to add both physical and digital books to your library, import from a third-party application, as well as organise your library with tags. Book Track also keeps track of the books you've read.

In this screencast, Rosemary opens the door to another level of personal automation with Pushcut for iOS. From simply adding options when setting a HomeKit scene, to diving all the way into the deep end with an automation server, Rose provides plenty of automation ideas to tickle your fancy.

Pushcut works by sending notifications to let you run your automations. You can connect these to times or locations (or even to web services like Zapier or Integromat) to trigger shortcuts based on other events.

In this episode, Rosemary introduces you to Dark Noise, a refined ambient noise app on iOS.

You can listen to one of 42 different noises, set up a sleep timer, and tweak a whole host of settings to make the app work just the way you want.

In this video, Rosemary shows you how to use Finances 2 for Mac, iPad and iPhone. Finances is a financial software application that can let you track all of your income and expenses across multiple apps and see which categories take up the most when it comes to your money.

Finances offers both automatically generated graphs as well as a traditional register or spreadsheet-like view. It comes with two templates to help you get started with personal or business accounting and lets you attach scans, screenshots or photos of invoices to transactions to keep everything running smoothly. On iOS it also has support for template transactions and Siri Shortcuts, to let you track the flow of your money with just a few taps.

When you want to watch a movie or TV Programme, but cannot remember the streaming service you need to go to in order to view, it can be a source of frustration. JustWatch is an iOS application and web service that allows you to search for media titles and present a list of options for streaming or purchasing.

Lee shows you in this week's tip how to create a JustWatch account, browse for new and popular content, Search for individual titles. You also learn how to configure filters and set up a watchlist that syncs to your other devices.
