Tutorial Description

Whilst apps like Plex are great for syncing video to your iPhone or iPad for offline viewing, sometimes you just want to download a video from YouTube or Vimeo at a moment's notice. This happened to me last month just as I was about to board a plane.

The good news is that with a little setting up and some specific apps, it is entirely possible to download video content for offline use, directly to your iPad or iPhone.

Great tips in this video!! thanks

Barbara Walchko

I use MACX YOUTUBE DOWNLOADER. Once you get the hang of it, it is much faster with less keystrokes. Google it and make sure you use the OFFICIAL site.... IT'S FREE and they continually update it as needed.

Thanks for the tip Barbara. It's a shame it's Mac only but looks very useful.

DON, WHERE DO i find the aforementined show notes for this Workflow method?

Peter Emery

OK, found the link, got it working in the Workflow app.

Don, I tried the SaveFromNet method on my iPad, but all I can get it to do is open the video, it will not proceed to the download phase. I'm very familiar with the SaveFromNet process on my Macs, having used that method for at least a year, but I can't replicate the experience on the iPad. Tapping on either the word Download (in green) or one of the displayed resolutions has the same effect: it takes me to a new tab where the video starts playing.

I can't get either of these to work. Perhaps YouTube changed something.

Just tried it on the Fully Charged video and it worked fine. Must be something in the video I was trying to download.
