MacWhisper is a gem of an application that has evolved greatly since its launch. In a recent update Jordi Bruin, the developer, has added the ability not just to dictate text directly into almost any macOS application, but also to use ChatGPT to automatically carry out prompt actions, such as translate it into another language, or perform grammar checks. It's a wonderful addition to a great app and in this video, Lee shows you how to make the most of it.

• You need a Pro license and an account with OpenAI to use the more advanced prompts alongside the Dictation features Lee demonstrates in this screencast.

Caution. After hearing great things about Mac Whisper I watched this tutorial with a great deal of excitement. After which I went in and purchased MacWhisper Pro for 39 Euro. Sadly after installing it I was not able to get the Open AI dependent features to work. I am getting some obscure error. Wrote to the developer four days ago, zero response. Reviewed his site a bit closer and seems there are many comments about lack of response to bugs and support. Went back and reviewed the tutorial to see if I could see what I may have done wrong and the version of MacWhisper is different form the latest version of the software I downloaded from his site. I would be very careful downloading this given my experience.
I believe I have just figured this out. It seems that Open AI API keys are not reusable. I had one I was using for Typing Mind which was working fine. When I reused it I was getting the error message. I created another key specifically for MacWhisper and it seems to be working now.

Thanks for the comment there - and surprised you haven't had a response and for the comments that other users find the same. I know Jordi is a one-man band there, and works on several applications however I'll reach out to him and let him know.
Well done for figuring out - in truth, Jordi himself acknowledged within the app and in interviews he has done that the way the API keys work, and the pricing for the various models really could do with some work by OpenAI to make it simpler - (I concur too) but once it's setup, it works well.
A while on from this video, just as an update, I still use MacWhisper as much as I did when I recorded and there have been more updates since.
