Tutorial Description

Although I recently covered 1Password for iOS, the app has had a significant update within a few weeks of its release. With support for custom URL schemes, you can now access your 1Password browser and information, directly from Mobile Safari and other third party applications.

In this episode, I explain custom URLs and how they increase the usefulness of 1Password.

With a simple tap and the addition of the 1Password URL scheme name, you can open any webpage from Mobile Safari directly in 1Password to retrieve your stored credentials, fill in your digital identity or use your stored credit card information.

I also show you how to create a Mobile Safari Bookmarklet to make the process even easier:

In addition, I take a look at the new 1Password integration in Tweetbot, how to use custom URL schemes in Mr Reader, as well as setting up a Search 1Password action in Launch Center Pro.

When adding a Safari bookmark that will open in one password, why use the java script? Why not just edit the bookmark URL by putting op in front of the standard URL and omit the java script?

Just a matter of convenience John. Some people find tapping and editing the URL bar a bit of a nuisance, easier just to tap twice to access the bookmarklet.
